Dealing with Frozen pipes In this picture, you will see a homeowner trying to thaw his frozen pipe.

During the winter months, there can be some issues like your pipes freezing and the pipes can also burst which can cause you water damage and no one wants to deal with a winter storm when it's 20 degrees or colder outside. Here are some tips to prevent your pipes from freezing in the winter.

Before winter you can take some precautions such as installing pipe insulation, sealing visible cracks, and applying electrical heating tape to easily accessible pipes.

Things you can do during the winter to prevent frozen pipes are set the heat in your home to at least 55 degrees when you aren't home, open cabinets regularly to let the warm air circulate, let your faucets drip, and keep your garage door closed to conserve the warm air in your home.

In the case that all of those options fail and your pipe does burst, you want to call someone you trust that will be able to take care of the water damage the right way. Here at SERVPRO of Western O'Fallon/Wentzville, we have years of water damage affiliated with a pipe burst.

Call us today and let us help you!
